Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the difference and safety of tianeptine and fluoxetine in the treatment of depression. METHODS Retrieved from CNKI, VIP, Wanfang database, PubMed, Medline and EMBase, RCTs about tianeptine with fluoxetine in treatment of depression were collected and evaluated by Cochrane systematic review. Meta-analysis was carried out by using Rev Man 5.0 software. RESULTS The 5 studies were included, involving 942 patients. Meta-analysis showed that there was no statistical significant on clinical efficacy between tianeptine and fluoxetine OR=1.25, 95%CI(0.93,1.66), P=0.13. The incidence of ADR in both group had significant difference OR=0.53, 95%CI(0.36-0.77), P<0.001. CONCLUSION Tianeptine is as effective as fluoxetine for treatment of depression with fewer side effects. However, high quality and large-scale RCT are required for further study.
