Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To explore the effects of coffee bean extracts on serum leptin(LP), adiponectin(APN) and the expression of adiponectin receptors in obese rats. METHODS Obese rat model was established by high fat diet. Rats obtained intragastric administration of coffee bean extracts(800, 267, 133 mg·kg
-1). The levels of plasma total cholesterol(TG), triplyceride(TC), high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C), low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C), LP, APN, weight and fat/weight were measured. The expression of adiponectin receptors in liver was measured. RESULTS Compared with normal control group, weight of the rats fed high fat diet for 6 weeks was higher(P<0.01), suggested obese rat model was established. Compared with model control group, the content of LP, weight and fat/weight of obese rats reduced after admistrated with coffee bean extracts(P<0.01 or 0.05), while APN, mRNA and protein of adiponectin receptors were significantly higher(P<0.01 or 0.05). CONCLUSION Coffee bean extracts can reduce the weight of obese rats effectively. The mechanism may be related with the reduction of the content of LP, the improvement of the content of APN and the expression of adiponectin receptors.
