Abstract: Mentholum, borneolum syntheticum and camphor are normally used as cooling agents by developing companies according to existing application dossier of ophthalmic preparation. However, besides some activities, these materials can enhance permeation and absorption of active ingredients according to literatures. Thus, it should be cautious when selection of excipients for ophthalmic preparation that is used for eyes directly.
