Abstract: OBJECTIVE The aspects of the future potential applications in the medical field and the value of the polysaccharide development, use, as well as the problems that exist are described. METHODS The current status and latest advances in the plant polysaccharides are reviewed from several recent research articles, and the brief introduction to the Chinese polysaccharide extraction, isolation and purification, and the relationship between the structure and function. RESULTS The plant polysaccharides has anti-oxidation, anti-aging, lower blood sugar, regulate lipid metabolism and anti-radiation function, and to enhance immunity and disease resistance. CONCLUSION Because of their unique features, and low toxicity, as the direction of development of new drugs has widely and promising foreground in the field of medicine.
