Establishment and Application Assessment of an Individualized Graded Medication Guidance Model for Children

      Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To explore the application of individualized graded medication guidance model in children, improve the awareness rate of correct medication and ensure the safety of children’s medications.
METHODS Based on children’s medication guidance knowledge base and drug instructions, individualized medication guidance rules for common drugs for children were designed, and voice and video medication guidance were integrated for special usage and dosage form drugs. The two-dimensional code was used as the carrier to deliver individualized multi-dimensional medication guidance content and the application evaluation was conducted.
RESULTS This model covered most of the oral and topical medications commonly used by children. The individualized medication guidance rules for 87 kinds of drugs had been provided 197200 person-times; the voice medication guidance for 79 kinds of drugs had been provided 164600 person-times; and the video medication guidance for 4 kinds of special dosage forms had been provided 29800 person-times. After the intervention, the proportion of rational drug use and precautions in the types of drug counseling decreased to 27.84% and 16.19%(P<0.05). The awareness rate of the new model was significantly higher than that of the control group(96.80 vs 85.80, P<0.01), and the patient satisfaction was 92.50%.
CONCLUSION The individualized graded medication guidance model can effectively improve the correct medication awareness rate of children/supervisors, and provide new ideas for ensuring children’s medication safety. It is highly feasible and worthy of promotion.
