Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To compare the efficacy and safety of nationally centralized procurement drugs and original research drugs of cefuroxime sodium for injection in perioperative prophylactic use, identify a safer, more effective and economical prophylactic medication scheme, and provide a basis for perioperative prophylactic medication.
METHODS Electronic medical record data of surgical patients receiving cefuroxime sodium for prophylactic infection were extracted from Fujian Medical University Union Hospital. After applying propensity score matching through SPSS 27.0, the study analyzed the effectiveness, safety, and economic indicators of the two drug groups in preventing postoperative infections.
RESULTS Upon comparing the prophylactic efficacy and the incidence of adverse reactions of cefuroxime sodium from the centralized procurement group versus the original research drug, no statistically significant difference was observed. However, there was a statistically significant difference in the economic indicators between the two groups(P<0.05). The centralized procurement group incurred significantly lower costs compared to the original research drug.
CONCLUSION There is no statistically significant difference in the effectiveness and safety of centralized procurement and original research drug in preventing postoperative infections in patients undergoing perioperative prophylaxis with cefuroxime sodium. Meanwhile, in preventing postoperative infection, compared to original drug, the cost of centralized procurement of drugs is more economical.
