OBJECTIVE To conduct the drug use evaluation(DUE) of ivabradine based on entropy weight technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution(TOPSIS) and to analyze the rationality of clinical application.

METHODS The drug utilization evaluation of ivabradine was conducted by referencing the product label(prescribing information), clinical practice guidelines, expert consensus recommendations, and relevant literature. Inpatient medical records using ivabradine from January 2022 to December 2022 in Tianjin Chest Hospital were evaluated by entropy weight-TOPSIS method.

RESULTS Two hundred and twenty-six cases of medical records was evaluated, there were 35 cases(15.49%) of reasonable medical records, 173 cases(76.55%) of basically reasonable medical records, and 18 cases(7.96%) of unreasonable medical records. The problems of unreasonable drug use were as follows: administration method(23.89%), administration dosage(23.45%), special groups(23.01%), drug interactions(22.12%), precautions(2.21%), indications(2.21%) and contraindications(0.88%).

CONCLUSION The drug use evaluation of ivabradine is conducted and the rationality of clinical application is analyzed based on entropy weight-TOPSIS method. The method is simple in operation, reliable in data and intuitive in results. The study has reference significance and guiding function in clinical rational application of drugs.
