Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To investigate the therapeutic effect of Painong powder on colitis mice and to provide evidence for its clinical use.
METHODS Male BALB/c mice were used to set the blank group, model group, sulfasalazine group and Painong powder high, medium and low doses group. The 3% dextran sodium sulfate(DSS) was administered in the daily drinking water to construct a colitis model, and to study the therapeutic effect of Painong powder on colitis model by measuring the body weight, disease activity index(DAI) score, colon length, and inflammatory factor expression.
RESULTS Compared with the model group, the weight loss of the mice in three dose of Painong powder group and the sulfasalazine treatment group was relieved in different degrees, the DAI score was significantly reduced(
P<0.05), and the colon length was partially restored. Painong powder could reduce the expression of IL-1β, TNF-α and IL-6 in the colon and increase the expression of IL-10.
CONCLUSION Painong powder alleviates the symptoms of DSS-induced colitis and improves the expression of inflammation-related factors.
