Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To establish an HPLC fingerprint method for 16 batches of Trichosanthis Fructus and distinguish Trichosanthis Fructus from different origins by chemical pattern recognization.
METHODS The HPLC fingerprints of Trichosanthis Fructus from different origins were collected. The similarity of the obtained fingerprints were evaluated by the Chinese Medicine Chromatographic Fingerprint Similarity Evaluation System 2004A, then a common pattern was established. Based on its chemical fingerprint information, the quality of Trichosanthis Fructus was comprehensively analyzed by two kinds of chemical pattern recognition methods.
RESULTS HPLC fingerprints of Trichosanthis Fructus were established, a total of 9 common peaks were calibrated and the similarity was basically >0.9. Cluster analysis and principal component analysis could clearly distinguish different origins, indicating that the main chemical marker causing the difference was vanillic acid, luteoloside, adenine, guanosine and xanthine.
CONCLUSION Cluster analysis and principal component analysis can be used to definitely distinguish different Trichosanthis Fructus and comprehensively evaluate the quality of Trichosanthis Fructus from different origins.
