Abstract: OBJECTIVE To provide references and suggestions for the dynamic adjustment and optimization of National Essential Medicines List. METHODS Statistics and analysis were carried out of the online bidding procurement of the western medicines in National Essential Medicines List(2018 Edition) on the Pharmaceutical Procurement Platform of Henan Province Public Resources Trading Center. Screen out those that could not be procured online and could be procured from only one manufacturer. RESULTS A total of 146 strengths of 100 medicines in National Essential Medicines List(2018 Edition) could not be procured on the Henan Province Pharmaceutical Procurement Platform. Among them, 10 national essential medicines involving their all dosage forms and formats could not be procured online. One certain main sort of dosage forms of 4 national essential medicines could not be procured online. Besides, for 44 national essential medicines, there were only one strength can be procured from only one manufacturer. CONCLUSION Reasons for national essential medicines cannot be procured on the Henan Province Pharmaceutical Procurement Platform may be the shortage of pharmaceutical supplies or the reduction of clinical need. As to supply shortage, medical institutions and health administrative departments should strengthen monitoring and classified response. Meanwhile, medicines assessed to be not suitable as national essential medicines shall be removed from the National Essential Medicines List in subsequent dynamic adjustments.
