Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To investigate the effect of Angelicae Sinensis Radix on airway goblet cell hyperplasia and JAK1/STAT6 signaling pathway in asthmatic mice with Yin deficiency syndrome.
METHODS The asthmatic with Yin deficiency syndrome model was established with ovalbumin and thyroxin, then to observe the effects of Angelicae Sinensis Radix on pulmonary ventilation function, asthmatic airway goblet cell hyperplasia, Muc5ac, IL-13 and IL-4 contents in lung tissues, JAK1 and STAT6 expression levels in lung tissues of asthmatic mice with Yin deficiency.
RESULTS Angelicae Sinensis Radix could significantly alleviate the abnormal changes of respiratory rate, tidal volume and enhance pause in asthmatic mice with Yin deficiency syndrome, improve lung function, reduce pulmonary index and wet to dry weight ratio of lung tissue, restrain airway goblet cell hyperplasia, decrease levels of Muc5ac, IL-13 and IL-4 in lung tissue, restrain JAK1 and STAT6 protein expression in lung tissue(
P<0.05 or
P<0.01).
CONCLUSION Angelicae Sinensis Radix can significantly alleviate airway goblet cell hyperplasia and decrease the high expression of Muc5ac and relieve asthma. One of the mechanisms to improve the imbalance of airway mucus secretion in asthma is the inhibition of JAK1/STAT6 signaling pathway.
