Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To provide a reference for the analysis of imaging abnormality in the clinical rational use of lanthanum carbonate chewable tablets.
METHODS A case of constipation and imaging abnormality caused by the use of lanthanum carbonate(LC) chewable tablets in a patient with CKD 5 stage hyperphosphatemia was analyzed, and the pharmacist assisted the physician search for the cause, and the patient was given medication guidance and follow-up.
RESULTS The mistaken of LC could explain radiopaquematerial on abdominal film well. Repeated radiographs showed that these deposits disappeared after relaxing the bowels. The clinical pharmacist made the flow path of LC using, ensured the right use of patient.
CONCLUSION Clinical pharmacist can promote the right use of lanthanum carbonate by making detailed medication instruction and following up.
