Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To investigate the expectorant and relieving cough effects of Compound Badanren granule by the ammonia water induced mouse cough model.
METHODS To observe the effects of relieving cough and expelling phlegm of Compound Badanren granule with different doses through ammonia water induced cough, sulfur dioxide induced cough and phenol red apophlegmating in mice.
RESULTS The frequency of cough inducing by ammonia and sulfur dioxide in mice were significant decreased(
P<0.05 or
P<0.01) in low, middle and high doses of Compound Badanren granule groups that made by the water extracting technology or ethanol extracting technology. Meanwhile, the phenol red apophlegmating was increased significantly(
P<0.05) in high dose group of Compound Badanren granule made by water extracting technology, and it was increased(
P<0.05 or
P<0.01) in low, middle and high doses of Compound Badanren granule groups that made by the ethanol extracting technology.
CONCLUSION The Compound Badanren granule has a confirmed expectorant and relieving cough effects, and there is no significant difference between the ethanol extract and the water extract.
