Abstract: OBJECTIVE To study the patent literature of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of liver ascites, and to provide reference for new drug research and development in this field. METHODS According to the Chinese patent database, SFDA website as the retrieval source, liver ascites, cirrhosis and traditional Chinese medicine as the key words, the patent application published in 1991-2017 was searched, and then through artificial noise reduction. METHODS The final liver ascites literature was identified and analyzed by IPC classification, applicant type, key applicant, legal status and so on. RESULTS A total of 242 Chinese medicine patent documents were collected, including 12% of the total number of patents, 62% of the total number of patents, and 62% of the total number of patents. The main body of the patent application was natural. In terms of the growth rate of patent applications, the trend of patent applications in this area had increased year by year, but so far there had been no listing of proprietary Chinese medicines specifically targeted at such diseases. CONCLUSION There are few effective patent cases in the treatment of liver ascites, and the results are low in industrialization. At present, there are no drugs specifically listed in the listed Chinese medicine. Therefore, it has developed a market with independent intellectual property rights for the treatment of liver ascites. prospect.
