Abstract: OBJECTIVE To research the effect of prescription named "Jiawei Shiquan Dabu Tang" on hidden blood loss after total hip arthroplasty surgery. METHODS Forty patients underwent total hip arthroplasty from June 2013 to March 2015 were randomly divided into 2 groups:observation group(n=20) were treated with the prescription (Jiawei Shiquan Dabu Tang) before and after surgery; and control group(n=20) were not treated. The total blood loss, postoperative drainage, hidden blood loss, postoperative transfusion rates and 14-day postoperative complications were compared between 2 groups. RESULTS Two groups had significant differences in total blood loss, postoperative, hidden blood loss and postoperative transfusion rates(P<0.01). There was no significant difference in blood loss between 2 groups and both 2 groups hadn't appeared complications after surgery. CONCLUSION Jiawei Shiquan Dabu Tang can correct anemia of patients after total hip arthroplasty, reduce the postoperative hidden blood loss and transfusion rate, speed recovery and prevent the occurrence of significant complications by means of tonic qi-blood.
