Abstract:
OBJECTIVE To illustrate the effect of Fufang Dangshen Pian on PPAR-γ/LXR-α/ABCA1 signaling pathways in atherosclerotic rabbit.
METHODS The model of rabbit carotid atherosclerosis were established with the methods of high fat diet and air seasoning, and treated with Fufang Dangshen Pian at 100 mg·kg
-1 and 300 mg·kg
-1 concentration. Carotid arteries were quickly stripped after the rabbits killed by air embolism, and the changes of serum lipid levels, pathological changes of carotid artery and the expression of PPAR-γ, LXR-α and ABCA1 in carotid arteries of rabbits were detected.
RESULTS The complex tablet significantly reduced the TC, TG, LDL of experimental rabbit. Meanwhile, it reduced lipid accumulation, up-regulated the expression of PPAR-γ, LXR-α, ABCA1 mRNA and protein.
CONCLUSION Fufang Dangshen Pian can decrease inhibit the formation of carotid atherosclerosis in experimental rabbit by activateing PPAR-γ/LXR-α/ABCA1 signaling pathways.
