An Improved Produce for the Synthesis of 4-Benzyloxy-3-nitro-α-bromoacetophenone

OBJECTIVE To synthesize 4-benzyloxy-3-nitro-α-bromoacetophenone. METHODS 4-benzyloxy-3-nitro-α-bromoacetophenone was synthesized in three steps starting from p-hydroxyacetophenone including nitration, benzylation, bromization, with overall yield of 45.2%. RESULTS The melting point and IR, 1-HNMR of the product were identical with that of the reported one. CONCLUSION The process can be easily controlled and is suitable for a scale production.
