OBJECTIVE To systematically sort out the core key information of the Tibetan medicine classical prescription Da’erqiang Powder, including its prescription origin, medicinal material base origin, processing technology, dosage ratio, functions and indications and modern clinical application. In accordance with the three-in-one evidence system of traditional Chinese medicine theory, human medication experience and clinical trials for registration and review of traditional Chinese medicine, this study provides literature basis and data support for standardized clinical medication, preparation development and industrial R&D transformation of Da’erqiang powder.
METHODS Based on ancient Tibetan medical classics, authoritative prescription books and national policy documents related to classical prescriptions, literature sorting and historical textual research methods were adopted to systematically verify the prescription origin, inheritance context, medicinal material origin, processing specifications, compatibility ratio, usage and dosage of Da’erqiang powder. Combined with clinical medication experience, the recorded differences and key common technical problems in the inheritance and application of the prescription were clarified.
RESULTS Da’erqiang powder was first originated from Master Wujianbarenqinbai in the 13th century and inherited by oral teaching in the early stage, which was formed earlier than Mipang Medical Works included in the Second Batch of Catalogue of Tibetan Medicine Classical Prescriptions. The basic prescription consisted of 1 part Hippophae Fructus and 3 parts Natron. It had abundant clinical application experience and exact curative effects on altitude polycythemia, dyspepsia, gynecological blood stasis and various pain-related diseases. In view of the differences in medicinal parts and dosage ratios recorded in different literatures, the unified and standardized key technical parameters of the prescription were clarified through systematic literature textual research and expert consultation and verification.
CONCLUSION This study clarifies the basic core information of Da’erqiang powder, including prescription evolution, medicinal material base origin, processing technology, compatibility ratio, usage and dosage, which meets the R&D requirements of the three-in-one evaluation system for classical prescriptions. It can provide basic support for the standardized clinical application, quality standard improvement, modern preparation research and innovative transformation of this Tibetan medicine classical prescription, and also offer a reference for the modern development and research of Tibetan medicine classical prescriptions.
