    Progress in Traditional Chinese Medicine for the Prevention and Treatment of Neurodegenerative Diseases Based on Ferroptosis

    • Ferroptosis, a novel type of programmed cell death proposed in recent years, is characterized by iron dependency and the accumulation of lipid peroxides. Studies have shown that ferroptosis plays a crucial role in the progression of neurodegenerative diseases. Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) possesses unique advantages in the prevention and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases. The application of TCM in the prevention and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases based on the theory of ferroptosis has become a research hotspot. This article reviewd the relationship between ferroptosis and neurodegenerative diseases, summarized the recent research progress of TCM in the treatment of ferroptosis-mediated neurodegenerative diseases, and provided insights for the prevention and treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.
