Abstract:
OBJECTIVE Try to evaluate the eye irritation of hair dyes by bovine corneal opacity and permeability(BCOP) test. METHODS Try to establish a standard method on eye irritation of hair dyes by using BCOP test, which was through the exploration of contact time between hair dyes and bovine cornea, the composing components of the hair dyes and the storage time after preparation of the hair dyes. RESULTS There was a positive correlation between contact time and the stimulation intensity; Each composing component showed different ocular irritation, oxidizer agent (generally was B agent or 2 agent) was non-irritation, while there was a great difference in the ocular irritation on A agent or 1 agent of different varieties; The ocular irritation of the prepared hair dyes was reduced after being placed for some time. 13 kinds of hair dyes products from market were selected to predict ocular irritation under the conditions that giving samples immediately when the hair dyes were prepared and the contract time with bovine was 10 min, in the experiments, the in vitro irritant score was 3.5-78.2, the results showed that the kinds of mild irritation were 10, moderate irritation was 1, severe irritation were 2. CONCLUSION BCOP method can be applied to predict ocular irritation of hair dyes.
