OBJECTIVE To analyze the current status and research trends of telemedicine under the context of "Internet Plus", providing insights for advancing pharmaceutical services in remote healthcare settings.

METHODS A comprehensive search was conducted through the Web of Science database for articles published between 2014 and 2023, focusing on telemedicine. The state of pharmaceutical services within telemedicine was analyzed, and bibliometric analysis was carried out using CiteSpace software to map the research landscape.

RESULTS Since 2020, there has been an exponential growth in telemedicine-related research topics, with prominent contributions from developed countries like the United States and the United Kingdom, demonstrating a cluster effect in research activities. Key areas of investigation include mental health therapies, rehabilitation, psychological counseling, infectious disease control and public health system development, and chronic disease remote monitoring. Pharmaceutical service-related literature accounts for merely 2.74% of the total, yet it permeates throughout the telemedicine framework, serving as a pivotal node in the domain.

CONCLUSION While telemedicine has witnessed substantial advancements in recent years, the representation of pharmaceutical services remains limited. The findings underscore the need to further promote remote pharmaceutical care, fostering a holistic pharmaceutical care system that integrates seamlessly into remote healthcare practices.
