Effects of Ethanol Extract of Phyllanthi Fructus on Proliferation and Apoptosis of Human Gastric Cancer AGS Cells

OBJECTIVE To investigate the effects of ethanol extract of Phyllanthi Fructus on proliferation and apoptosis of human gastric cancer AGS cells in vitro. METHODS After the action of alcohol extract of Phyllanthi Fructus in vitro, the AGS cells were observed and detectd through MTT method, Cell colony experiment, Hoechst staining, and Annexin V/PI. RESULTS After the treatment with 0.05, 0.10, 0.15 mg·mL^-1 of alcohol extract, the morphology of AGS cells in each group changed different degrees and showed concentration-time dependence; Cell colony experiments showed that the ethanol extract of Phyllanthi Fructus can inhibit tumor cell colony formation rate; Hoechst staining analysis, Annexin-V-FITC/PI experiments showed that the ethanol extract of phyllanthi fructus can promote tumor cell apoptosis. CONCLUSION The alcohol extract of Phyllanthi Fructus in vitro has good inhibition activity and apoptosis induce on human gastric cancer AGS cells.
