Abstract
OBJECTIVE To review the interaction between echinocandins and innate immune system of the host. METHODS The paper summarized researches about the effect of echinocandins on the innate immune system of host by reviewing the literatures. RESULTS The antifungal agents echinocandins inhibited the synthesis production of β-1,3-glucan, a component of fungal cell wall and regulated the expression of Dectin-1, Toll-like receptors and mannan binding lectin, which resulted in activation of the host immune response and the damage of fungal cells directly or indirectly. CONCLUSION The interaction between echinocandins and host’s immune response mechanism improves the antifungal effect and highlights other efficient agents against fungi infectious diseases.
