Influence of Feilaoling Preparation on Therapeutic and Cellular Immunity In Pulmonary Tuberculosis

OBJECTIVE To explore the cellular immune function of patients with initial treatment of pulmonary tuberculosis. METHODS Fifty-nine patients with pulmonary tuberculosis were randomly divided into the treatment group(n=30) and the control group(n=29). The treatment group was treated with both Feilaoling preparation and conventional chemotherapy, the control group was only treated with conventional chemotherapy. Then the clinical effects were measured in both groups and the effects of Feilaoling preparation on T lymphocyte subsets, interleukin level and adverse reactions were observed. RESULTS The clinical symptoms and signs in treatment group were better than that in control group(P<0.05). Compared with pre-treatment, T lymphocytes CD₃⁺, CD₄⁺ and CD₄⁺/CD₈⁺ were increased significantly and T lymphocytes CD₈⁺, IL-1 and IL-6 were decreased significantly after treatment, all those differences were significant(P<0.05). The treatment group had a significant change compared with the control group(P<0.01) in the part of reducing the liver damage and leukopenia. CONCLUSION Feilaoling preparation was helpful to improve cellular immunity of patients with pulmonary tuberculosis and reduce side effects of conventional chemical anti-tuberculosis drugs, so as to increase cure rate.
