Effect of Gliclazide on Plasma Protein Binding Rate of Losartan Potassium

OBJECTIVE To study the effect of gliclazide on the plasma protein binding ratio of losartan potassium. METHODS The equilibrium dialysis combined with HPLC were employed to determine the concentration of losartan potassium. The plasma protein binding rate of losartan potassium alone or together with gliclazide were determined. RESULTS Under three concentrations of drug, the protein binding rate of losartan potassium alone were 97.4%, 97.8%, 98.2%; when together with gliclazide, the protein binding rate of losartan potassium were 94.1%, 94.8%, 94.9%, respectively. CONCLUSION The protein binding rate of losartan potassium is decreased in association with gliclazide (P<0.01).
