    Analysis of the Use of Anti-hypertensive Drug with Primary Hypertension in Tonglu County

    • OBJECTIVE To introduce the current status of drug treatment of primary hypertension patients in Tonglu. METHODS With “Questionnaire of Drug Intake by Primary Hypertension Patients” as a tool, an investigation was conducted in 2 091 patients and the patients were recalled after 12 months. RESULTS There were differences between rural and urban hypertension patients in the selection of anti-hypertensive drugs. The number of patients receiving single-agent drug therapy accounted for 83.45% and there was a significant difference(P<0.05) between rural and urban patients, which was 89.64% and 75.62%, respectively. The amount of rural and urban patients with medication non-compliance accounted for 24.14% and 18.74%, respectively, with a great difference between them. The use of unreasonable amount of prescriptions was accounting for 21.76% while compliance rate of blood pressure 50.31%. However, the unreasonable rate decreased to 7.13% while compliance rate of blood pressure increased to 63.46% through drug intervention. There was a significant difference (P<0.05) in patients receiving medical insurances, medication compliance, reasonable medication and compliance rate of blood pressure. CONCLUSION It is important for hypertension patients to emphasize the necessity for medication reasonableness and medication compliance, which in order to improve the compliance rate of blood pressure and reduce the occurrence of complications.
