Statin drugs-induced foam at the mouth:one case report

    • A 78-year-old woman whose extremities were unable to move freely due to neck injury was involved in our hospital for systematical acupuncture treatment. On day 2,she was given atorvastatin tablets 20mg QN according to biochemical indexes(Total cholesterol 5.31mmol/L、Triglyceride 1.99mmol/L).the patient vomited foam non-projectily withoutout cough and phlegm..symptom was slight when daytime.Considering the ADR,the patient was given ptavastatin 2mg QN,the foam vomiting symptom became slighter, reducing to 20ml per night. Considering the normal biochemical indexes, ptavastatin was therefore stopped, and later the symptom of foam vomiting was never accured as well.
