Research Progress in Epigenetic Mechanism for Schizophrenia and Its Therapeutic Drugs

OBJECTIVE To provide an original optimal treatment strategy for schizophrenia with medications. METHODS Recent advances in development of antipsychotics featuring epigenetic action mechanism are introduced. RESULTS Three medications including valproic acid are just epigenetic antipsychotics currently available. CONCLUSION Importance should be attached to combination treatment with the epigenetic antipsychotics for refractory schizophrenia.
