Study on the Effects of Ginsenosides from Ginseng Root or from Ginseng Stem and Leaf on Spontaneous Movement and Aggressive Behaviour of Isolated Mice

    • OBJECTIVE To study the effects of ginsenosides from ginseng root or from ginseng stem and leaf on spontaneous movement and aggressive behaviour of isolated mice. METHODS Four weeks of isolated mice were administrated intragastrically with ginsenosides solution from ginseng root or from ginseng stem and leaf respectively at a high dosage of 100 mg·kg-1, and a low dosage of 25 mg·kg-1. 0.9% sodium chloride solution was taken as blank control group. Then the effects of these two kinds of ginsenosides solution were studied on spontaneous movement and aggressive behaviour of isolated mice. RESULTS The spontaneous movement and aggressive behaviour of isolated mice were obviously reduced by administrated with ginsenosides solution from ginseng root, not from stem and leaf. CONCLUSION Ginsenosides solution from ginseng root, not from stem and leaf, has central sedative effect.
