Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the quality of Gentiana officinalis H.Smith from different areas in Gansu province by indentification and content determination of gentiopicrin. METHODS The gentiopicrin in Gentiana officinalis H.Smith was identified by TLC and determined by HPLC. RESULTS The calibration curve of gentiopicrin was linear within 23.5-70.5 µg (r=0.999 3), and the average recovery rate was 98.59% (RSD=1.12%, n=6). CONCLUSION The TLC identification method has been proved specific, and HPLC method has been proved simple, accurate and reproducible. Moreover, the results showed that the contents of gentiopicrin in Gentiana officinalis H.Smith from different areas of Gansu are different, but higher than the standard required by Chinese Pharmacopoeia. This study provides a scientific basis for artificial cultivation of Gentiana officinalis and protection of wild Gentiana officinalis.
