Study on the Antiasthmatic Effects of Essential Oil from Centipeda minima

OBJECTIVE To observe the antiasthmatic effects of the essential oil from centipeda minima. METHODS Used the animal model of spray-induced asthma and isolated tracheal smooth muscle of guinea pig to determine the antiasthmatic effects of the oil. RESULTS The essential oil significantly prolonged asthma latency and gasping on the guinea pig model of spray-induced asthma by ACH & HT. The oil also inhibited the constriction of tracheal smooth muscle in vitro. CONCLUSION The essential oil has a good therapeutic effect on asthma.
