Clinical Analysis of 104 Cases of Senile Hypertension with Felodipine and Shihuyangyin Fang

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To observe the efficacy of felodipine and Shihuyangyin Fang for senile hypertension. METHODS The 104 patients were randomly divided into two groups: treatment group(52 cases were treated with felodipine and Shihuyangyin Fang) and control group (52 cases were only treated with felodipine), and a continual observation lasted for 8 weeks. RESULTS As for the treatment group, 32 cases were significantly effective and 16 cases were effectual with a total cure rate as 92.31%. Compared with the control group, there were significant differences(P<0.05). Clinical symptoms, such as headache, dizziness, palpitations, fidgety, aching and softness of loin and knees, were significantly improved in the treatment group after the treatments. Compared with the control group, there were significant differences(P<0.01). Clinical symptom score were also reduced remarkably. Compared with the control group, there were significant differences(P<0.01). The rate of side effects of treatment group was only 7.69%, while that of control group was 23.08%. There were significant differences between two groups (P<0.01). CONCLUSION The combination of felodipine and Shihuyangyin Fang can improve the antihypertensive effect and reduce side effects.
