Determination of Content and Content Uniformity of Colchicine Tablets by HPLC

OBJECTIVE To establish an HPLC method for the determination of content and content uniformity of colchicine tablets. METHODS An HPLC method was established on C8 columns with a mobile phase of methanol-water (40∶60) and detection wavelength was set at 254 nm. RESULTS The calibration curve of content was linear in the range of 2-20 μg·mL^-1(r=0.999 9). The average recovery was 100.2% with RSD of 0.6% (n=9). CONCLUSION The method is simple, rapid, sensitive and accurate, and its results of determination is satifactory. The method can be used for the determination of content and content uniformity of colchicine tablets.
