    Monitoring the Concentration of the Cytotoxic Drugs in Pharmacy Room in Various Work Periods and Areas

    • OBJECTIVES Monitoring the concentration of the cytotoxic drugs in drug configured room in various work periods and areas. METHODS Fluorouracil injection was used as a model compound. The air samples were absorbed by hydrochloric acid solution and collected in various work periods and areas. And the ultraviolet spectrophotometer (UV) was used for sample analyze. RESULTS Trace amount of fluorouracil were detected in different gas samples. Based on our studies, the concentration of fluorouracil during working, one hour after work and two hour after work was (18.816 8±10.027 5)mg·m-3, (0.210 3± 0.076 9)mg·m-3 and (0.188 0±0.063 8)mg·m-3; and the amounts of fluorouracil in delivery window and packing zone was (0.0184±0.0061)mg·m-3 and (0.007 4±0.003 9)mg·m-3. CONCLUSION The ultraviolet spectrophotometer (UV) was used for sample analyze to reflect the levels of fluorouracil concentration in various work periods and areas.
