Abstract
OBJECTIVE To estimate the therapeutic effect of anti-depressants (mirtazapine or Paxil)in the treatment of the chronic gastritis with Helicobacter pylori. METHODS Fifty-six patients who were suffering from the chronic gastritis with Helicobacter pylori were divided into group A (30 cases) and group B (26 cases). Patients in group A took the triple treatment, and patients in group B took anti-depressants (mirtazapine or Paxil). Score of HAMD and TESS, blood concentration of IL-6 and TNF-α of each patient before and after 6 weeks'treatment, and the uncured ratio of Helicobacter pylori were measured and compared respectively. RESULTS The score of HAMD and TESS, blood concentration of IL-6 and TNF-α of each patient in the two groups changed significantly (P <0.01), while the uncured ratio of Helicobacter pylori showed no differences between the two groups. CONCLUSION Anti-depressants might inhibit the growth of Helicobacter pylori by improving the immunity function of the patients, and it might be a effective way to cure the chronic gastritis with Helicobacter pylori in future.
