Abstract

OBJECTIVE Synthesis of amlodipine besylate. METHODS A high yield of amlodipine can be obtained by performing a Hantzsch reaction of a pyrrole derivative with methyl aminocrotonate and 2-chlorobenzaldehyde. RESULTS The total yield was 45%. The structure of amlodipine was identified by ¹H-NMR. CONCLUSION The process can be easily controlled and suitable for a scale production.
