Immunoregulatory Function of Bistortae Rhizoma Ethanol Extract

OBJECTIVE To study immunoregulatory function of Bistortae Rhizoma ethanol extract (BRE). METHODS The percentage of phagocytosis of neutral red by RAW264.7 cell line from mouse macrophages was detected by colorimetric assay, . normal mice, weigh the immunological organs, MTT method was employed to investigate T lymphocyte transformation efficiency and the cytotoxicity of NK cells; measurement of the level of serum hemolysin antibody in mice immunized by chicken red blood cells and the content of IL-2 in serum with ELISA. RESULTS BRE can improve phagocytosing function of RAW264.7 macrophage cell line, increase spleen index and thymus index, promote proliferation of T lymphocyte, increase the cytotoxicity of NK cells, raise the level of serum hemolysin antibody and the content of IL-2 in normal mice. CONCLUSION BRE possesses a potential immunoregulatory function.
