Research Progress on Authenticity and Pharmacological Activities of Chrysanthemum Morifolium Ramat Cv. ‘Hangbaiju’

OBJECTIVE To review and analyze the literature related to the authentic property and pharmacological effects of Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat cv. ‘Hangbaiju’, in order to provide the direction and basis for the development of new drugs and functional food.

METHODS By searching CNKI, Wanfang and PubMed databases, the published literatures on the authenticity and pharmacological effects of Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat cv. ‘Hangbaiju’ at home and abroad were sorted out, based on the study of the difference of active ingredients in different producing areas, the pharmacodynamic material basis of Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat cv. ‘Hangbaiju’ was preliminarily analyzed, and the research progress of its pharmacological action and mechanism was reviewed, and suggestions were provided for the direction of follow-up research and development.

RESULTS As one of the "Zhebawei", Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat cv. ‘Hangbaiju’ was an authentic herbal medicine in Tongxiang area of Zhejiang province. Its authentic advantages might be related to the contents of flavonoids, polyphenols and volatile oils in it. Pharmacological effects of Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat cv. ‘Hangbaiju’ mainly focused on its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, retinal protection, cardiovascular protection, hypoglycemic, lipid-lowering, neuroprotective, liver and kidney protection and gastrointestinal protection.

CONCLUSION In this paper, the research progress on the authenticity and pharmacological effects of Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat cv. ‘Hangbaiju’ is summarized, which provides evidence for its authenticity in Tongxiang production area, provides references and suggestions for further elucidating its pharmacological mechanism, and also provides the development direction for new drugs and functional foods using Chrysanthemum morifolium Ramat cv. ‘Hangbaiju’ as raw materials.
