Abstract
For a long time, the treatment of peptic ulcers mainly focusing on acid suppression has led to an increase in the irrational use of acid suppressants. There has been a growing number of reports on adverse reactions, and the ulcer recurrence rate remains stubbornly high. In fact, gastric acid is a normal physiological substance and is not the fundamental cause of the occurrence of peptic ulcers. The damage to the gastrointestinal mucosal barrier is the key factor triggering ulcers. The core of promoting ulcer healing lies in the rapid repair of the damaged mucosal barrier. This article proposes that the treatment of peptic ulcers should prioritize the strategy of "focusing on promoting repair and supplementing with acid suppression". This article elaborates in detail on the rationality and scientific nature of this viewpoint from multiple dimensions, such as the problems existing in acid suppressants, the pathogenesis of peptic ulcers, and the efficacy and existing problems of repair drugs.
