Progress of Traditional Chinese Medicine that Targeting Ferroptosis to Inhibit Tumor

    • Ferroptosis is a new type of cell death, which caused by iron-dependent lipid peroxidation and reactive oxygen species accumulation. It is different from apoptosis, pyroptosis, necrosis, and autophagy. Ferroptosis is closely related to a variety of biological conditions, including development, aging, immunity and tumor, and plays an important regulatory role in suppressing tumor progression. A large number of studies have shown that traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) can induce ferroptosis of tumor cells through the glutathione/glutathione peroxidase 4 pathway, iron metabolism, lipid metabolism and other mechanisms so as to prevent the development of tumor. In view of this, this paper reviewed the latest research on TCM that inhibit tumor progression by targeting ferroptosis to provide references for the anti-tumor mechanism study of TCM.
