    Macroscopic and Microscopic Identification and Digital Characterization of Foeniculi Fructus

    • OBJECTIVE  To investigate the personalities and microscopic features of Foeniculi Fructus and conduct digital characterisation studies.
      METHODS  Using a stereo fluorescence microscope and digital imaging technologies, the external characteristics and surface structure of the Foeniculi Fructus(front view, side view, basic view, top view) and internal structure(cross section, longitudinal section) were seen and characterized.
      RESULTS Clarified the morphological characteristics of Foeniculi Fructus under visible light and fluorescence, as well as the microscopic features of cross-sections, longitudinal sections, and powder.
      CONCLUSION  This study offers a solid scientific foundation for the revision of the standard and the authenticity identification of Foeniculi Fructus. It also serves as an illustration for the development of digital characterization specifications for the characteristics and microscopic identification of Double suspension fruit medicinal materials and offers information for the digital specimen platform of traditional Chinese medicine.
