Build a Closed-loop Management System for the Entire Flow of Narcotic and Psychotropic Drugs in Hospital Based on the Construction of Level-six Electronic Medical Records

OBJECTIVE To build a closed-loop management system for the entire flow of narcotic and psychotropic drugs in the hospital based on the construction of level-six electronic medical records. METHODS According to the requirements of level-six electronic medical records construction, the functional modules of the hospital information system were designed and increased, and the interface with other systems was improved, starting from three aspects: the front end of narcotic and psychotropic drugs prescription, drug prescription and the back end of medical order execution. RESULTS The information transformation greatly reduced the time spent at each stage of medical order execution, while the rationalization of medication use was increasingly improved. CONCLUSION Based on level-six electronic medical records, the hospital information system is transformed to realize the closed-loop traceability management of the entire flow of narcotic and psychotropic drugs in hospitals. With the advantages of safety, accuracy, standardization, efficiency, and closed-loop traceability, it reduces the risk of narcotic and psychotropic drugs malpractice and is highly propagable.
