Research Progress of Complex Oral Colon-specific Drug Delivery System

Oral colon-specific drug delivery system(OCDDS) has many advantages, such as targeting localization, increasing drug concentration at target position, acting on lesion site directly and reducing the effective dose and adverse reaction of drugs. It is often used to improve the therapeutic effect of inflammatory bowel disease and colon cancer. Compared with single OCDDS, complex OCDDS has the advantage of better targeting, less local stimulation and high efficacy, which has attracted much attention of researchers in recent years. The applications of complex OCDDS in the treatment of colonic diseases were reviewed in this manuscript, in order to provide reference for the further study of OCDDS and the clinical treatment of colon diseases.
