Advances in the Anti-infective Effects of Epigallocatechin Gallate

    • Epigallocatechin gallate(EGCG) is the main component of tea polyphenols. EGCG exhibited diverse biological functions, such as anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-viral, anti-tumor, anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, anti-obesity, anti-diabetic, cardiovascular disease prevention and protection, immune regulation, and neuroprotection. The article mainly summarized the potential role of EGCG in the treatment of new coronavirus(SARS-CoV-2) infections, preventive effects in(drug-resistant) bacterial infections, as well as therapeutic effects in drug-resistant bacterial infections to provide a theoretical basis for EGCG in the development of clinical anti-infective drugs.
