Research Progress on the Effects of Propofol on Mitochondrial Function

    • Propofol infusion syndrome(PRIS) is a rare but life-threatening complication. Although there is evidence that the pathological mechanism of PRIS may be a mitochondrial disease caused by propofol, its molecular mechanism is not clear, and propofol has a protective effect on damaged cardiomyocytes and nerve cell mitochondrial function. Therefore, this article reviews the functional changes and mechanisms of different cell mitochondria caused by propofol and elaborates the propofol action mechanism on cardiomyocyte mitochondria, nerve cell mitochondria, and liver cell mitochondria, so as to provide theoretical basis for the pharmacology of propofol's effect on mitochondria mechanism research.
