Research Progress in the Inhibition of Urinary Tract Infection by Plant Active Compounds

    • Urinary tract infection is a common infectious disease. Its high recurrence rate and the strong resistance of pathogenic bacteria make plant-derived antiseptics as a substitute for antibiotics in the prevention and treatment of urinary tract infection. This paper summarized the distribution of pathogenic bacteria from urinary tract infection in different population, and the inhibitory effects of common plants and their active compounds on urinary tract infection. Besides, the mechanisms of inhibiting pathogenic bacteria from urinary tract infection by plant active compounds were discussed from inhibition of adhesion and invasion of pathogens, and inhibition of pathogenic bacteria activity, which provide the new direction and method to prevent and treat urinary tract infection.
