Advances on Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis with Miao Medicine

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease whose pathogenesis has not been fully elucidated. Due to its long course of disease, high disability rate, and wide population, it has been highly valued by domestic and foreign governments and related scholars. China is no exception, especially in ethnic minority areas of Guizhou. Due to the special geographical and climatic environment, the incidence of RA is significantly higher than other regions. The Miao people of Guizhou have accumulated valuable and effective drug use experience in the long-term struggle against the disease. However, it is lack of systematic summary of the treatment of RA. Therefore, this paper reviewed the recent use of Miao medicine in the treatment of RA single-flavored medicinal materials, compound and other treatment methods, in order to provide scientific basis for in-depth research and development and utilization of Miao medicine to treat RA.
