Abstract
OBJECTIVE To establish a method for the determination of scutellarin and baicalin in the flowers of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi by HPLC, to control its quality. METHODS The contents of scutellarin and baicalin in the flowers collected at different developmental stages(Chuhua stage, Shenghua stage and Diaohua stage) in Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi were measured by HPLC. The chromatographic column was ZORBAX Eclipse XDB-C18(4.6 mm×250 mm, 5 μm). The moblie phase was methanol-water-phosphoric acid(47:53:0.2), flow rate was 1.0 mL·min-1, detection wavelength was 280 nm, column temperature was 30℃. RESULTS The average contents of scutellarin and baicalin were 1.690% and 0.306%, respectively. The highest content of scutellarin and baicalin were 1.857% and 0.360%, respectively, which in the flowers collected at August. CONCLUSION The method is rapid convenient and accurate, and is suitable for the quality control of the flowers of Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi.
