Research Progress on Mechanism and Pharmacological Activities of Madecassoside

Madecassoside is one of the effective components of Centella asiatica in umbelliferae. It has been proved that the pharmacological effects of madecassoside are very extensive. It is used clinically for burn scar, skin whitening, anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant, anti-depression, anti-cancer, prevention and treatment of coronary heart disease, myocardial infarction, cerebral thrombosis, cerebral infarction, memory enhancement, and so on. In this article, the latest research progress of pharmacological activities and mechanism of madecassoside was reviewed by searching related literatures at home and abroad in recent years, in order to provide more research basis for clinical application and development of madecassoside.
