Application of Antimicrobial Peptide PDK160 in Treatment of Skin and Soft Tissue Infection

    • OBJECTIVE To study the application of new antimicrobial peptide PDK160 in local treatment of skin and soft tissue infection and the mechanism. METHODS The antibacterial effect of the antibacterial peptide PDK160 in the wound infection model of mice and in vitro infection of pig skin was evaluated through in vitro sterilization experiment, hemolytic experiment, drug resistance experiment, etc. RESULTS Antibacterial peptide PDK160 had broad spectrum bactericidal effect on gram-positive bacteria and gram-negative bacteria in vitro. In addition, the strong antimicrobial activity and broad spectrum antimicrobial activity of PDK160 were independent of hemolytic activity. PDK160 showed significant anti-infective effects in the in vitro models of wound infection in mice and skin infection in pigs. Subcutaneous or local application in mice did not result in any adverse reactions. CONCLUSION PDK160 may be a new treatment method for local treatment of infection, which deserves further study.
